Ray Brook

A graduate of California State University at Fullerton in Economics, Ray Brook capitalized on a successful 35-year career with Procter & Gamble to launch SummitSeekers in 2000. Ray held management positions in sales, marketing, recruiting, training, logistics, and customer service. He was a recognized leader, speaker, and facilitator. In 2002, he was chosen one of ten retirees that most exemplified the values for P&G Customer Business Development.

Ray Brook began a life of recognized leadership and service to others as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer. He later led and served with community groups, and the Jaycees, Optimists, and Lions Clubs. Rotary International has been a key part of his life since 1998. Ray has given presentations to over a hundred Rotary clubs and was a keynote speaker at a District Conference in British Columbia.

Ray is noted for inspiring and entertaining adventure stories. Over 30 newspapers, half dozen magazines, a radio talk show, and a TV station covered his “post-retirement solo adventures” – hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, bicycling 50 States and 10 Canadian Provinces, and kayaking the Sea of Cortez. Ray shares how his experiences led to a search for meaning and purpose in his life; then to life transformation and fulfillment.

It began in 1989 with the death of his only child, Ron, who battled Cystic Fibrosis for nearly 27 years. Ray sought answers to life’s questions for nine years – “What is the meaning of life? Why did Ron die and why do I live? What do I want most? What is my purpose? What will be my life legacy?”

Ray shares how through a series of amazing experiences, he surrendered his life to the Lord at the age of 57 and came into the church four years later through the Alpha course. Days after graduating from Alpha, his beloved wife of 40 years died in a tragic accident. However, through the presence of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, his faith grew dramatically. He began filling his days with prayer, Bible study, and reading Christian classics and theological commentaries.

Ray loves to share the blessings he’s received from daily surrender and being obedient, especially when it didn’t make any sense at all. Some may say our meeting was a random chance, but we know it was no coincidence, it was a miracle, a divine appointment. Ray says, “Gay is a daily picture for me of God’s perfect love and amazing grace.”
